Tyler Golly to Lead Toole Design’s Expansion into Canada

Toole Design Group is expanding into Canada in 2018. This is the first international office for our rapidly-growing planning, engineering, and landscape architecture firm, which currently has 13 offices in 12 states across the United States

“After 15 successful years in the United States, we are excited to grow our company and our team in Canada,” said Jennifer Toole, AICP, ASLA, President. “The desire for safe and complete streets is growing in communities across North America. Canadian towns, cities and provinces are eager to implement Vision Zero initiatives, build networks of protected bike lanes, and improve walkability as part of broader transportation, health and environmental policies. This expansion will enable us to serve our existing and future Canadian clients more effectively as they implement these projects and programs.”

To lead this expansion, Toole Design welcomes Tyler Golly, M.Sc, P.Eng to our team. As Canadian Market Lead based in Edmonton, Alberta, Tyler brings more than a decade of engineering and planning experience in both the public and private sectors. He will build a presence for the company in provinces across the country.

“Tyler is the ideal person to lead our expansion into Canada, and we are very excited to welcome him to the team,” said Bill Schultheiss, PE, Vice President and Director of Sustainable Safety. “He brings energy and passion to his work, and it shows in the creative ways he has delivered projects that quickly build multimodal networks and maximize results.”

A leader in active transportation planning and engineering across Canada, Tyler has a history of delivering innovative projects and design guidance at the local, provincial, and federal level. His work has included contributions to the Canadian Geometric Street Design Guide, the Edmonton Downtown Bike Grid and Rapid Implementation project, Winnipeg’s 2017 Walk-Bike Projects, the Lethbridge Cycling Master Plan, and award-winning public outreach videos for the City of Edmonton’s implementation of major bike routes from the Bicycle Transportation Plan.

He is a member of the executive committee of the Institute for Transportation Engineers (ITE) Complete Streets Council, and a technical adviser for the recent publication “Implementing Context Sensitive Designs on Multimodal Corridors: an ITE Handbook.” Tyler is the recipient of the 2015 Rising Star Award from the Canadian District of ITE, and the 2014 Sustainable Transportation award from the Transportation Association of Canada.
