Separated Bike Lanes

Toole Design Group (TDG) developed the Separated Bike Lane Planning & Design Guide (2015) for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and is now offering half- or one-day training courses based on the content of the Guide. The MassDOT Guide is the most comprehensive and detailed manual addressing separated bike lanes, protected intersections, and the complex issues related to parking, ADA requirements, transit stops, maintenance, signals and stormwater management.

AASHTO Bike Guide

TDG was the primary author of the AASHTO Guide for the Development of Bike Facilities (2012) and offers a one-day course to introduce practitioners to the contents of the Guide. The course covers planning, facility selection, and on-street facility design as well as having comprehensive coverage of shared use path design.

Complete Streets Planning & Design

TDG staff have written, presented on, and developed training programs around numerous Complete Streets planning and design guides and manuals, including the nationally-acclaimed Boston Complete Streets Design Guide (2013), the Dallas Complete Streets Design Manual (2016), and the Saint Paul Street Design Manual. We offer tailored Complete Streets training courses for state and local transportation departments.
