Dylan Johnstone is a planner with Toole Design’s team working on-site with the City of Austin’s Active Transportation and Street Design Division. His work focuses on project coordination for a variety of quick-build projects, including bikeways, sidewalks, Safe Routes to School, and urban trails. Dylan brings expertise in community engagement and bicycle and pedestrian planning and programs from the public and non-profit sectors. He holds a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University, and prior to joining Toole Design, he worked as a Safe Routes to School instructor in Boston and Portland. Dylan also completed research projects on bicycle and pedestrian counting through his graduate work, including writing a guidebook for a state agency on when and where to conduct short duration counts.
Outside of the office, Dylan enjoys spending time gardening, mountain biking, and looking for his new favorite swim spots in Austin.
