Fernando Oliveira

Fernando is a transportation planner with experience in bicycle and pedestrian projects and strong GIS skills. Prior to joining Toole Design Group, Fernando completed his Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa, where he was a research assistant working on the Traffic Safety Improvement Project of Non-Motorized Vehicles in Cedar Rapids, IA. His research project was on bicycle and pedestrian counting, including writing a guidebook for a state agency on when, where, and how to conduct short-duration counts. His interests have always been on how to improve communities in a way that results in a better quality of life for the population. Fernando also holds a B.S. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Iowa.
