Jake Berman

Project Planner

Jake is a planner in Toole Design’s Boston office. Jake draws on his spatial analysis, policy, and engagement skills to make urban spaces more equitable, sustainable, and livable for all people. At Toole Design, he has worked on Vision Zero, Complete Streets, Safe Routes to Schools, and bicycle and pedestrian plans at the local, regional, and state levels. Before joining us in Boston, he completed a Master of City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Design, where his studio project reimagined how urban streets can work with emerging technologies like autonomous shared vehicles and personal electric mobility devices.

Outside of the office, Jake enjoys fixing bicycles and exploring cities—whether they are new ones or his adopted home of Boston—by bike and on foot.
