Rachael Panik is a transportation planner and engineer in Toole Design’s Spartanburg office in Spartanburg. She became passionate about planning after studying abroad in Japan and exploring on foot and by bike; now she is passionate about helping others do the same. Rachael joined Toole Design after graduating from Clemson University with her master’s degree in city and regional planning. She also has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her versatile background allows her to understand projects comprehensively while maintaining an attention to detail and producing data-driven projects. Rachael’s master’s thesis created a model to predict bicycle crashes based on the relationship between the number of cyclist and the number of bicycle crashes per street within an entire regional transportation system. Her experience includes master plan drafting, mapping and network analysis, corridor conceptual design, and planning public engagement processes.
In her free time, Rachael enjoys doing yoga, practicing Japanese, baking, and taking strolls through her neighborhood.
