Sean Corcoran, PE

Austin Engineering Director

Sean, a senior engineer and Austin Engineering Director, leads Toole Design’s team work on-site with the City of Austin’s Transportation Department. He is a licensed civil engineer with a broad range of experience in civil, site development, and infrastructure projects. He has served as a project manager, designer, and a client-representative on construction sites for projects ranging from roadways to runways to bridge structures. As an avid cyclist and urban walking enthusiast, Sean enjoys combining his personal experience and design skills to make our transportation system safer and more enjoyable for all users.

Our team in Austin works with the City’s Active Transportation and Street Design Division on the design, planning, and implementation of multimodal streetscape projects throughout Austin. These projects include bicycle facilities, sidewalks, pedestrian safety, Safe Routes to School, and transit improvements funded by the 2016 Mobility Bond. Sean is involved in all phases of project development from planning, conceptual layout, public engagement, final design, implementation, through project closeout.

In addition to his professional duties, Sean is an active member of Engineers Without Borders-USA and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He currently serves on the board of ASCE’s Transportation and Development Institute (T&DI), chairs T&DI’s Committee on Younger Members, and serves on the ASCE Convention Advisory Council.

Outside of the office, Sean enjoys traveling, exploring new places by bicycle, hiking, cooking, playing soccer, and expanding his bow tie collection.
