Tom Huber is a senior planner in Toole Design’s Madison office, which he opened in 2011. He served as office director for 5 years, and continues to be very active on the national level serving as a resource to Toole Design’s clients throughout the U.S. He has served on a dozen state and federal research projects and has advised state DOTs on a wide variety of topics, from MAP-21 implementation to resource management.
Prior to joining Toole Design, he was the Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator for the Wisconsin Department of Transporation (WisDOT) for nearly 20 years. Tom’s work with WisDOT resulted in award-winning statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plans, design manuals, and workforce training workshops that created a culture within the department that supported bicycling and walking.
Tom is daily bike commuter, and a winner of the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professional’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He enjoys bicycle tourism and traveling, and especially any trip where he can combine the two.
