Creating Spaces for People In Motion
Our mission is to reimagine streets and transportation networks to serve every member of the community. When we put our heads together, we plan for action and turn it into reality. From Vision Zero action plans and innovative data analyses to final design and construction documentation, our engineers, designers, and planners work across disciplines to make sure that our clients can help their communities become safer and more accessible.
What We Do
Toole Design sets the standard for safe street designs and transportation networks. We offer you the opportunity to do work you believe in, for a company that shares your values and supports you and your professional development. That’s one of the reasons we were named a “Best Firm to Work For,” and why we have one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the industry. We’re also proud of the fact that we frequently promote from within: when you’re ready to take your career to the next level, you will have the opportunity to do so with Toole Design.

Internships at Toole Design
Toole Design interns do not fetch coffee or sort mail. We want you here for real, meaningful work – and we’ll pay you to do it. Summer interns spend 8 to 12 weeks working alongside our staff of landscape architects, planners, and engineers in our offices across the country. All Toole Design internships are paid positions.
Moving Multimodal Transportation Forward
Every day, our team takes on active transportation and multimodal projects across the country, consistently breaking new ground and moving our industry forward. Our planners, engineers and designers set the standard for creating safe, comfortable facilities for all modes of transportation, whether we’re crafting policies and action plans, analyzing transportation operations, or developing construction documents.
From our founder, Jennifer Toole, to our summer interns, we work together across offices and disciplines to reach the best solution on every project.
Working at Toole Design is about changing the status quo: we work with communities to transform their transportation systems, and we back those ideas up with the research and engineering needed to make them realities. When you join us, you gain the support of the entire Toole Design team; mentorship here can range from the rapid response you receive when you have a question to year-long partnerships we arrange for staff members interested in learning from senior staff.
