Joseph Blakeman, PE

Senior Engineer, Transportation

Joseph has over 20 years’ experience as a traffic and transportation engineer, specializing in urban roadway, traffic signal, and multimodal design. He spent over 20 years with the city of Milwaukee overseeing the City’s 780 traffic signals, pavement markings and signing, designing roadways and intersections including multimodal facilities and traffic calming installations.  He also worked closely with the teams designing and constructing the Hop streetcar and BRT systems in Milwaukee.

Joseph has served on various committees of the Wisconsin Section of ITE and he is a member of ITS Wisconsin and APBP. Joseph was also active in NACTO, where he was on the subcommittee for signals as part of the 2024 update to the Urban Bikeway Design Guide.

Outside of work, Joseph and his family are active in the community at Centennial Evangelical Lutheran Church where he serves as an elder and he also serves on the board of Christ-St. Peter Lutheran School on the south side of Milwaukee. Joseph enjoys music, reading, history, and current events.
