Kate Maker, PE

Deputy Director of Civil Engineering

Kate currently serves as Toole Design’s Deputy Director of Civil Engineering for North America. With almost two decades of experience, Kate specializes in transportation construction projects within urban and suburban corridors where right-of-way can be limited, edge conditions are defined, and drainage can be a challenge. Kate is passionate about providing equitable transportation options for all, regardless of race, age, or ability. Her keen eye for detail aids in her success, serving as Principal-in-Charge or QAQC Lead on several complex projects. She is an expert in ADA compliance and has worked on streetscapes, parks, and roadways improvements including curb extensions, roundabouts, raised crosswalks, and raised intersections. Kate currently serves on the Board for the Women’s Transportation Seminar (WTS) Boston Chapter and was awarded the 2020 WTS-Boston Member of the Year.

In her spare time, Kate enjoys seeing live music, spending time with her husband, and doing yoga.
