Sonam Agarwal

Urban Designer

Sonam is an urban designer in Toole Design’s Pittsburgh office, where she brings a user-centered approach to addressing complex urban design challenges. She believes design should be grounded in community — working with people rather than apart from them and strives to reflect humility and compassion in her work.

Sonam works on public realm and street design projects that combine design research with community and stakeholder engagement. She uses critical design thinking to shape planning strategies and develop concepts, with mapping, and data analysis to support clear and thoughtful project materials. At Toole Design Group, Sonam contributes to Active Transportation Plans, Safety Action Plans, Multimodal Design, Wayfinding, Streetscape Design, Corridor Plans, and Safe Routes initiatives. Her work supports projects from early concepts through final deliverables.

Outside of work, Sonam enjoys movement through yoga, biking, and running, as well as creative pursuits such as pottery, knitting, and drawing. She also loves photography, traveling, and experimenting with new recipes.
