Project Summary

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) has set a goal to eliminate pedestrian and bicyclist deaths by 2030.  This Vision Zero goal is the foundation of Safe Streets for Walking and Bicycling, an action plan prepared by Toole Design.  To develop the plan, we analyzed crash data to create a regional risk assessment map that incorporates both the demand for walking and bicycling as well as system-wide roadway design elements that cause crashes. The ARC is using this plan to champion a regional Complete Streets approach and has asked Toole Design to assist with the next step:  preparing a Complete Streets workbook and training to help local agencies design safer streets in their communities.
