Project Summary

After working with Toole Design on its Bicycle Master Plan, the City of Colorado Springs wanted to build momentum in the community by quickly implementing projects from the plan. City staff worked with our team to develop a highly visible wayfinding and signage system, and launch the first routes alongside its new bikeshare system. When complete, the system will connect important destinations that include downtown, local universities, and Garden of the Gods. One Colorado Springs survey respondent summed up the new signs perfectly, saying “they’ll help me find new places I have never visited by bicycle, and also show others that, ‘oh wow, I could be riding my bike to this location instead!’”

Alongside our project partners, we led a collaborative design process to develop a unique, legible, and simple sign that reflected the Colorado Springs community. Just two months later, the first signs were fabricated and installed by City crews.
The Colorado Springs bicycle wayfinding signs reflect the unique character and landscape of Colorado's second largest city, known as an outdoor and bicycling destination.
The wayfinding signs were installed in time to support the launch of PikeRide, the City's new bikeshare system.
