Project Summary
We led a multidisciplinary team in the development of the Maple Avenue Corridor Plan. The plan provides a clear vision for revitalizing the corridor and methodologies for presenting a positive image of Burlington from the moment travelers exit I-40.
We directed a systematic planning process with a robust public outreach program. A multi-day planning and design workshop embraced the core values of the community to develop guiding principles that are directing all decisions for the project. We inventoried existing transportation and land use conditions, conducted a market analysis to determine the most appropriate future land use scenarios, and created a site-specific economic development plan with potential financing and partnering strategies to move redevelopment forward.
We developed multimodal Complete Streets solutions to transform the corridor into a people-focused street that balances the needs of all users. The implementation plan provides cost estimates, prioritization, and key next steps to make recommendations a reality. The final plan includes a summary of the planning process, comprehensive recommendations, design guidelines, illustrative renderings, wayfinding framework plan, and suggestions for refinement of land development regulations to support a Complete Streets environment.
