Fort Atkinson Safe Routes to School Plan

Project Summary

Toole Design worked with city and school district officials to make Fort Atkinson, WI a safe, healthy, and fun place for children to walk or bicycle to school. We proposed a citywide network of paths, routes, and streets that middle and high school students can comfortably use. To make this a reality, we crafted new policies and developed detailed recommendations for engineering improvements at each of the city’s eight schools. The city and school district are currently including our recommendations in their future budgets, showing the commitment needed to bring the plan to fruition.
