Jessica Mortell of Toole Design Group’s Boston office was recently elected to the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals’ Board of Directors. As a female civil engineer and a young professional, Jessica will bring a unique perspective to the Board. Jessica has been an active APBP member since joining in 2010, and was the APBP’s first intern, profiling 14 lifetime achievement winners for the APBP’s Mentor’s Project. As a board member, Jessica plans to continue her work on the Mentor’s Project to inspire learning across generations, and to create an invaluable resource for young professionals involved in promoting active transportation. She currently chairs the Young Professional Committee, and is also working to create a local Boston APBP Chapter.
As an Engineer in Toole Design Group’s Boston office, Jessica offers diverse technical knowledge and experience in multimodal planning and design. Jessica has extensive experience with developing Complete Streets design guidelines and policies, and played a key role in the development of the Dallas and Boston Complete Street Guidelines. She has also helped design over 30 miles of bicycle facilities in the Cities of Boston and Washington, DC. Prior to joining TDG, Jessica helped create the UConn Cycles bicycle sharing program at the University of Connecticut.
