Toole Design is pleased to share that Gwen Shaw, EIT, an engineer in our Portland, OR office, has been recognized as the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals‘ 2018 Young Professional of the Year.
“We absolutely delighted that Gwen won this award,” said Jennifer Toole, President. “She’s not only a talented engineer, she cares deeply about her community and is working towards a future where bicycling and walking are safe and enjoyable activities for people of all ages and abilities.”
“It’s such an honor to receive this award, and to share my experience working to reimagine our spaces with people in mind,” Gwen said. “I’m excited to continue working both professionally and personally to bring the process of community engagement to life by testing temporary designs and demonstrating concepts for people to experience.”
From the APBP release:
“Gwen Shaw, Engineer at Toole Design Group, is awarded as our 2018 Young Professional of the Year. Ms. Shaw’s approach to making communities and streets more livable by experimentation, flexibility and adaptation led to the implementation of Portland’s first ADA accessible pop-up floating bus island, allowing transit riders and street users more convenient transit access while providing traffic calming benefits to a busy commercial corridor.”
Join us in congratulating Gwen on this remarkable accomplishment.
