Project Planner
Hema is an urban planner and designer with experience leading transportation and public realm projects across a range of scales. Her work spans plazas, greenways, and pedestrian-priority streets to active transportation plans, transportation safety initiatives, and citywide programs such as Slow Streets. Hema brings together planning, design, analysis, and community engagement to translate complex transportation challenges into practical, context-sensitive solutions. Her approach is grounded in the belief that every trip begins and ends on foot. Whether walking, biking, taking transit, or driving, everyone experiences the city as a pedestrian. This perspective shapes her focus on planning streets and spaces that are safe, welcoming, and accessible for people of all ages and abilities.
Outside of work, Hema enjoys exploring cities by foot and bike, hiking, practicing yoga, paddleboarding, and visiting art galleries and museums.
