Mia Candy

Senior Planner

Mia is a Senior Planner with expertise at the intersection of urban planning and design, public health, and education. She supports communities throughout the United States to plan for active and multimodal transportation, community development, affordable housing, and youth-friendly neighborhoods. Mia works closely with federal, state and local agencies, and with nonprofit community leaders, to build cross-sector partnerships. She specializes in community engagement techniques, mixed-methods research, geospatial analysis, policy writing, and visual communication. In 2019 Mia was selected as an Urban Leaders Fellow, and spent the summer developing a framework for tracking social equity across New Orleans neighborhoods. Mia grew up in South Africa and has a keen interest in international and comparative planning practices.

When not in the office, Mia spends her time reading, crafting, listening to podcasts, digging for thrift store treasures, and exploring parks and urban trails.
