Project Summary
We drew upon our national experience in developing bikeway guidelines and standards to develop updated bicycle facility guidance and standards for Denver. The Manual includes treatments that account for Denver’s unique characteristics, such as:
- Updated bikeway design guidelines for bikeway facility types, intersection treatments, and selection guidance
- Process guidance for designing bikeways in Denver
- Updated standard details that reflect bikeway treatments
- Updated standard specifications to reflect bikeway treatments
The Manual was developed using an immersive stakeholder process that involved Denver Public Works decision-makers from a variety of divisions. We facilitated stakeholder meetings to obtain guidance about design treatments and trade-offs, and as a result the Manual was drafted quickly.
