Project Summary

Toole Design planned and implemented “Biki,” Honolulu’s 1,000-bike, 100-station bikeshare system, providing both City residents and visitors with an outstanding new mobility option. We worked with local stakeholders, the tourism industry, and the public to develop service area boundaries and determine optimal station locations. We worked with various City and County of Honolulu departments to secure station approvals and permits prior to implementation.  Now operational, Biki offers new connections to the local transit system and a successful template for nearby regions to follow. Biki is not just for tourists – of the 800,000 rides in the first year of operation, sixty-four percent were taken by Oahu residents.
