Minneapolis Chain of Lakes Regional Park Master Plan
Minneapolis, MN
Project Summary
The Chain of Lakes Regional Park, which connects bustling uptown Minneapolis with the nearby City of Saint Louis Park, is the second-most popular tourist destination in the state of Minnesota. To accommodate everyone walking, biking, running, sailing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and travelling through the park, Toole Design was part of the project team that helped the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation board conduct community outreach, planning, and design to make the park’s many assets work for all its users, with a focus on accessibility and placemaking. The Master Plan articulates a long-term vision for this incredible regional destination that respects its ecologic surroundings, balances the need to both access and circulate the lakes, and celebrates the City’s history, present, and future through park design and gateway features.
