Nicholas Jackson
Vice President | Director of Operations, Northeastern U.S. and Canada | Owner
Nick Jackson is Vice President and Director of Operations in Toole Design’s Northeast region and Canada, based in our Boston office. As a senior planner, he brings over 20 years of experience in planning and designing sustainable transportation systems. Nick is highly regarded for his ability to build consensus around solutions for complex urban transportation problems. He recently led a project team of planners, engineers, and architects to craft comprehensive new street design guidelines for the City of Boston, a first in the city’s history. Nick also played key roles in the emergence of Chicago and Boston as top-rated bicycling cities. Prior to joining Toole Design, Nick served as Deputy Director of the Active Transportation Alliance in Chicago, IL.
A former bike messenger and racer, Nick has learned to slow it down and enjoys riding the growing network of protected bike lanes in Greater Boston (many of which he had a hand in creating). When not on city streets or paths, Nick can be found year-round in ocean waters off New England enjoying a variety of wind action sports.
