Project Summary

The Massachusetts Pedestrian Transportation Plan strikes a careful balance between big-picture statewide policy and design issues and specific, local needs for walking along and across state roads. Toole Design’s planners have led an extensive outreach and research program aimed at understanding local pedestrian safety and access issues, and the result is a statewide investment strategy that is clear, coordinated with regional and local efforts, and actionable in both the short and long term. A forthcoming stand-alone resource guide for local practitioners will help translate this statewide plan into local action.
