Sugar Hill Greenway Concept
Sugar Hill, GA
Project Summary
Toole Design developed the Sugar Hill Greenway Livable Centers Initiative project to foster comfortable walking and biking connections in the heart of the city. This project added just over 4 miles of greenway, connecting Downtown Sugar Hill to two new community parks, a major shopping plaza, and the future 16-mile greenway loop along its creek corridors. It is the first link toward significant regional connections: the Chattahoochee River and Lake Lanier recreational areas, as well as a park and transit center.
The proposed route balanced the City’s need for a budget-friendly approach that minimized right-of-way acquisition with the community’s desire for natural.
Apart from valuable site visits, the entire project successfully took place virtually through Zoom meetings, website and social media updates, WikiMaps, and online surveys.
