Main & Spring Forward

Project Summary

Spring Street and Main Street traverse the heart of downtown Los Angeles. LADOT chose Toole Design to develop new street design concepts that create safe connections for all users while enhancing transit performance for the many critical bus routes that serve both streets.  We worked side-by-side with City staff to develop initial design concepts, provide technical assistance throughout the development of the construction plans, and to prepare highly visual public engagement tool that used 3-D graphics to illustrate the final design concepts.  The final design includes protected bike lanes, and safety improvements to intersections and high-volume driveway entrances.
