Meet us in Denver for NACTO Designing Cities

We are excited to sponsor and participate in the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO) Designing Cities 2023 conference being held May 15-18 in Denver, Colorado. Toole Design is proud to have partnered with NACTO member cities Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, and other valuable Front Range partner communities to plan and implement safer, more connected transportation networks. We cannot wait to gather with conference attendees to celebrate this work and share ideas for communities across North America.

Toole Design staff will be on hand throughout the conference, including President Jennifer Toole; Director of Operations, Western U.S. Jessica Fields; Denver Office Director Trung Vo; Civil Engineering Manager Janine White; and additional members of the Toole Design Denver team.

Since opening locally in 2013, Toole Design has established a strong reputation in Denver and the Mountain West for active transportation planning and multimodal design. Over the past year and a half, the Denver team has nearly doubled in size and significantly broadened our array of project types to include roadway and intersection design, Vision Zero and systemic safety analysis, bicycle facility design and implementation, micromobility planning, trail planning and design, and design guidance and policy development. Toole Design recently collaborated with NACTO and Denver staff to develop a robust slate of conference walkshops to showcase the region’s active transportation and transit networks. Finally, the team recently gained a new planning manager, Nick Oyler, who has a record of equitably improving walking and bicycling conditions.

We are also proud of our contributions to the standards and guidelines that inform many of our local projects. With our local partners, we developed the Denver Complete Streets Design Guidelines, the Denver Bikeway Design Manual, parts of the Boulder Design and Construction Standards, the Fort Collins Intersection Design Guidelines, and the DRCOG Regional Complete Streets Toolkit.

NACTO Designing Cities is one of our favorite events of the year. We look forward to connecting, reflecting on all we’ve done together so far, and dreaming big about what’s next — for Denver and for your own communities.
