Adam Wood, AICP
Active Transportation Plan Practice Lead
Adam is a senior planner in Toole Design’s Madison office. He has diverse experience in multimodal transportation, land use, and urban design consulting, and has led efforts on bike, pedestrian, and trail master plans totaling more than 3,500 miles of on-street facilities and shared use paths. The breadth of Adam’s experience includes multimodal transportation planning, developing Complete Streets plans and policies, conceptual design for street projects, generating funding strategies and cost estimates for urban and rural bikeway projects, planning regional and statewide bicycle and pedestrian transportation systems, and developing project scoping processes. He also has experience with comprehensive land use planning, downtown/small area planning, and advance transportation planning processes including the development of Environmental Impact Statements and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies.
Adam excels at working with multidisciplinary teams of clients and consultants as well as effectively organizing and facilitating public involvement efforts. Over his career, Adam has worked with a diverse array of clients from platinum-level bicycle friendly cities to communities embarking on their very first efforts to enhance biking and walking.
Adam’s free time is spent playing with his two children, exploring the outdoors (walking, biking, hiking, skiing), reading, and learning new skills.
