A good long-range plan sets the tone for your statewide approach to walking and biking, and the Iowa Bicycle and Pedestrian Long-range Plan delivers on this promise. Toole Design staff focused on improving policies, programs, design practices, and coordination between jurisdictions to make Iowa a better place for bicycling and walking. Our analysis and policy recommendations immediately affected roadway design, project selection, and budgeting processes across the state: the Plan is the foundation for a new statewide Complete Streets program, applying to both rural and urban roadways, that makes the inclusion of bicycling and walking facilities in roadway projects the default.
