Montgomery County Dockless Bikeshare Evaluation and Policy Support

Project Summary
With this first-of-its-kind project, Toole Design helped Montgomery County, MD evaluate the impact of dockless bikeshare programs on the community to inform the County’s next phase of shared mobility. We conducted an extensive app-based field survey of the bikes themselves, an analysis of trip data, and outreach that yielded feedback from over 300 people. Our “Bikeshare Ambassadors” hit the streets for an entire summer, talking to the public, answering questions, and coaching people on appropriate bike parking locations. We are now drawing on community feedback and best practices to develop policy recommendations for the next phase of the program.
