Purdue University Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan
West Lafayette, IN
Project Summary
Purdue University wanted an actionable strategy for becoming a more bike friendly campus. Toole Design used charrette-style workshops with campus stakeholders to craft program, policy, and infrastructure recommendations for improving bicycling within the multimodal campus environment. The striping plans we developed for several recommended on-street bike facilities were implemented before the plan was even complete. The project also included a practical model for on-campus bikeshare and helped make the case for hiring a campus bicycle coordinator, both of which led to a Bicycle Friendly University designation for Purdue University in 2015.
