Project Summary
Toole Design worked with the City of South Bend and the University of Notre Dame to identify the opportunities and challenges of rolling out a bikeshare program. To meet the project’s compressed schedule, we conducted a week-long analysis and outreach workshop in South Bend, identifying whether there was enough interest and funding to support bikeshare, before presenting our final recommendations to the mayor. Business case in hand, South Bend was exceptionally prepared for discussions with Limebike, who made the city one of its first markets when they launched a well-received, well-used dockless bikeshare program there in 2017.
