Toole Design Adds Eight New Owners

Since Toole Design’s founding more than 20 years ago, we have attracted professionals who are deeply committed to creating great places that move people — communities where all people can get around safely, comfortably, and joyfully. As Toole Design continues to thrive and grow, we are pleased to announce the addition of eight new owners: Jeremy Chrzan, Amalia Cody, Michelle Danila, Jared Draper, Dan Goodman, Jamie Lerner, David Shipps, and Trung Vo.  

The new owners are long-serving team members who have demonstrated leadership and vision. Each of them has been fundamental to the success of the company, and they will continue to guide our success as they join our ownership group. Read on to learn more about our eight new owners. 

Jeremy Chrzan
Jeremy Chrzan, PE, PTOE, LEED® AP leads our Multimodal Design Practice. Since joining the firm in 2014, Jeremy’s contributions have strengthened the company’s position as an industry leader. Jeremy is the lead engineer for the forthcoming AASHTO Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities and an experienced trainer, helping practitioners implement the latest standards from design guides, including PROWAG and the MUTCD. In his new capacity as an owner, Jeremy will continue to guide the Multimodal Design Practice and lead key company projects. 
Amalia Cody
Amalia Cody

Amalia Cody, PE, AICP is the Director of Engineering for our presence in the Western United States. She joined the firm in 2017 and has played a critical role in growing our Seattle office. A talented engineer and certified planner, Amalia partners with municipal agencies and their stakeholders to manage projects that emphasize mobility, social equity, and community enhancement. In her role as an owner, Amalia will continue to grow the company’s engineering practice in the West while also providing leadership as a member of our Board of Directors. 

Michelle Danila

Michelle Danila, PE, PTOE serves as our Director of Engineering Operations for North America. Michelle originally joined the firm in 2009, and then returned to lead our engineering practice in 2020 after a three-year stint in the public sector. She has been fundamental to developing companywide design protocols and supporting the growth of the firm’s design practice in the U.S. and Canada. As an owner, Michelle will continue to support our growing engineering and urban design practices companywide.

Jared Draper

Jared Draper, AICP is a transportation planner with deep experience leading multimodal transportation projects at the local, state, and international levels. Since joining the firm in 2016, Jared founded Toole Design’s Raleigh office and has built it into a strong multidisciplinary team of engineers, landscape architects, and planners. In his role as an owner, Jared will continue to lead the Raleigh office and support emerging markets, such as Northwest Arkansas, throughout the Southern United States. 

Dan Goodman
Dan Goodman, AICP, LEED® AP is the Director of Planning for Toole Design’s presence in the Mid-Atlantic. He joined the firm in 2007 and has contributed significantly to some of the company’s most important projects. Dan also brings a national perspective to his work, having led the Federal Highway Administration’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Program from 2013 to 2018. As an owner, Dan will play a key role in expanding our presence in the Mid-Atlantic. 
Jamie Lerner

Jamie Lerner, PHD, PHR, SHRM-SCP, MBA joined the firm in 2018 and currently leads a dedicated team of HR specialists and recruiters as our HR Director. Jamie has been instrumental in developing internal company processes and creating an environment where all team members can thrive. She helps lead the company’s DEI initiatives as a member of our DEI Task Force. As an owner, Jamie will continue to play a significant role in the company’s internal processes and overall culture. 

David Shipps

David Shipps, AICP joined the firm in 2017 to build our presence in Ohio. David soon demonstrated his talent for team building with the establishment of a thriving, multidisciplinary office in Columbus. Recently, he was tapped to head up our recurring two-year leadership development program. In his capacity as an owner, David will continue to support our expansion throughout the Midwestern United States and will advise on important corporate initiatives.

Trung Vo

Trung Vo, PE, AICP leads Toole Design’s Denver office. Joining the firm in 2018, Trung has since built a strong, multidisciplinary team in Denver that is partnering with communities throughout Colorado and across North America to create safer, more connected, and more resilient transportation systems. Trung was also recently appointed as a member of the company’s Board of Directors, and he will continue to guide the company in his new role as an owner.
