Join Christina Fink as she co-leads an in-depth workshop on the forthcoming NCHRP 03-143: Framework and Toolkit for Selecting Pedestrian Crossing Treatments. Participants will learn how to use site conditions and data to choose appropriate treatments at unsignalized and midblock crossings. The session will combine real-world case studies, hands-on exercises, and peer discussion to support future national implementation of the framework.
Tuesday, July 21
During this flex session, Mariel Colman and Paul Lippens will share lessons from a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the Michigan DOT and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) that is helping seven communities move active transportation projects from planning to implementation. Attendees will learn how trainings, design charrettes, and implementation-focused technical assistance are turning community-supported concepts into fundable, implementable projects.
Wednesday, July 22
Douglas Halpert will co-lead this interactive session on accessibility in the built environment. Through direct insights from people with disabilities, a guided walking audit, and immersive activities, attendees will explore real-world barriers related to transit, crossings, micromobility, and public spaces. The session will close with a discussion on how these insights can inform better design, policy, and operations.
